Skating Sessions and Ice Fees

SCNV offers its members prime time ice on Monday evenings with a limited number of skaters per session. See Memorandum from session chair.

* Indicates there is space available on the session. The actual number available at any day and time may vary depending on additional subscriptions and actual attendance. Please check with session monitor for availability of pickups.

The Power Stroking session, 7:00 to 7:30 P.M. is being taught by Nikki Carpitella. The session is designed to accommodate lower level skaters as well as the most experienced. Participants will be taught appropriate edge control, posture and body alignment as well as power and speed during stroking. This class is designed to improve quality of movement concomitant with strength, thereby enhancing the overall speed in the most efficient way.
The fee for these classes covers the cost of ice and instructor. These sessions are not open to individual coaching.

Skaters interested in joining SCNV and subscribing to skating sessions should return their contract applications as soon as possible. The sessions are filled on a first come first served basis. Pick-up Policy:
SCNV Full Skating Members have priority for pick-up on:

any session with unassigned slots

empty slots on full sessions occurring on a week-to-week basis.

SCNV Associate Members also may pick up any session with remaining empty slots. There is no limit to the number of pick-ups for SCNV members. A skater who is not a member of SCNV may skate as a guest up to three times per skating season. Skaters picking up on Freestyle sessions must wait 10 minutes before entering the ice if the session is fully subscribed. Skaters must check in with the session monitor.

Monday night is the only time club members can skate freestyle sessions, we include here a link to Fairfax Ice Arena's Figure Skating Page so you can see the skating sessions available to all figure skaters, including SCNV Club Members!
