Andrea Petak, age 15, has skated for ten years. She
has been competing in ice dance for four years, synchro for eight
years, and is a former freestyler. Andrea's interest in ice dance began
when her synchro coaches encouraged team members to take lessons in
that discipline. She quickly recognized that she wanted to become a
competitive ice dancer. She will be competing in the National Solo Ice
Dance Championships in Colorado Springs in September 2011.
Andrea
is a member of the Capitol Steps Synchronized Skating Novice and
Intermediate teams. Her freestyle coach is Roman Skornyakov. Vitaly and
Katrina Shalin are her ice dance coaches.
"Drea" is best
described as determined and dedicated. She is an honor roll
student in the Sophomore class at Manassas Park High School. When
she isn't skating, Andrea loves spending time with her family,
especially her little brother.
