Pat French
SCNV’s own International
judge and 2010 nominee for the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame
When I moved to this area from
Buffalo in October 2000 I felt I should be a
member and represent a club in the area where I now was living. SCNV
was the first club to ask me to judge and this was the reason I choose
SCNV to represent. I served 3 years on the Board of SCNV. Until last
May I was a World Singles, Dance and Synchronized Judge. I had to
resign my international appointments because I could no longer comply
with the activity requirements but I maintain my National appointments
in all three disciplines.
I served 10 years on the ISU Synchronized Skating Technical Committee,
4 as Chairman. In 2009, at the U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council
Meeting in Buffalo, I was honored as a 50-year skating/championship
judge. My mother is also a 50-year judge, and I think we are the only
mother/daughter 50-year judges in the nation. To me this was very
exciting, as I was honored in Buffalo where my involvement in skating
began. I try to remain as active as possible in the sport which has
given me so much. I travel to judge wherever I can. To date, I have
judged 31 Regionals, 29 Sectionals, 16 Nationals, 5 Olympic Festivals,
1 European Championships, 1 Four Continents Championships, 2 Junior
World Championships and 2 World Championships.
Wow where has the time gone?
