Sabrina Begley, age 15 ½ , has been skating for 8 ½
years. She has been competing and testing ice dance for four years,
synchro for eight years, and was a freestyle skater who preferred not
to jump but was a natural in dance. She has a Gold Medal in
moves-in-the-field, and is close to a Gold Medal in ice dance. Sabrina
has competed in both solo dance and with her coach, Vitaliy Shalin. Her
primary dance coach is Daphne Frysiek and her freestyle coach is Karen
Branson. She is thrilled to be competing in the National Solo Ice
Dance Championships in Colorado Springs in September 2011 at the Gold
level. Sabrina is on the Capitol Steps Synchronized
Skating Novice Team which competes throughout the Eastern
Section. For 3 straight years, her team has performed in Ice
Champions LIVE! with Michael Weiss, a foundation supporting Olympians
of the future. She is proud of the dedication of her synchro team
and loves the thrill of the competitions.
Sabrina is a 10th
grader at Dominion High School. She is a straight A student with a
passion for art. When she isn’t skating, she is reading, painting her
nails or working in theater. She has been a scenic artist in the
performing arts for as long as she’s been skating. Together, she and
her mother have won a WATCH award for Best Set Painting for a Musical,
as well as having been nominated 3 other times. She thanks her
family for supporting her in the wee hours. |
