SPOTLIGHT ON PEOPLE

    Pat French
SCNV’s own International judge and 2010 nominee for the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame

Pat French When I moved to this area from Buffalo in October 2000 I felt I should be a member and represent a club in the area where I now was living. SCNV was the first club to ask me to judge and this was the reason I choose SCNV to represent. I served 3 years on the Board of SCNV. Until last May I was a World Singles, Dance and Synchronized Judge. I had to resign my international appointments because I could no longer comply with the activity requirements but I maintain my National appointments in all three disciplines.Pat French doing figures 40 years ago I served 10 years on the ISU Synchronized Skating Technical Committee, 4 as Chairman. In 2009, at the U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council Meeting in Buffalo, I was honored as a 50-year skating/championship judge. My mother is also a 50-year judge, and I think we are the only mother/daughter 50-year judges in the nation. To me this was very exciting, as I was honored in Buffalo where my involvement in skating began. I try to remain as active as possible in the sport which has given me so much. I travel to judge wherever I can. To date, I have judged 31 Regionals, 29 Sectionals, 16 Nationals, 5 Olympic Festivals, 1 European Championships, 1 Four Continents Championships, 2 Junior World Championships and 2 World Championships.
Wow where has the time gone?

    Tommy Steenberg

Tommy Steenberg is our club's super star. He placed 10th in the Senior Men’s events at the 2009 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships, having come in 7th in the Free Skate. He is the 2008 Eastern Men's Champion, a 2008 Junior World Team Member, and a 3-Time Junior Grand Prix Champion. Visit his website to see him skate.

    Sebra Yen

I've been skating since late 2002, which makes that 7 years now. In 2008, I competed in Taiwan for the Chinese Taipei Nationals and got 1st place in the Junior Men’s division. The experience was great. It gave me a feel for what international competitions will be like. Later that year, I skated in Junior Grand Prix Mexico and Junior Grand Prix Spain. My goal is to improve from each competition to the next. Hopefully, I come away with just skating the best that I can. There is an isu bio here and I also added a photo from nationals.
