he Graduating Seniors Award application is now available for skaters graduating in the spring of 2027. This award is designed to recognize the skating achievements of athletes who have progressed in their skating journey throughout high school and beyond. Skaters may earn one of four award levels: bronze, silver, gold or platinum.
Whether they just passed their first test or are a seasoned international competitor, each athlete has the chance to receive this achievement award! Please help us by encouraging your skaters to apply for this award so they can celebrate their accomplishments.
The application is now live in Members Only under Skating Opportunities > High School > Graduating Seniors Application. Applications are open for current U.S. Figure Skating members who are graduating in the spring of 2027. To learn more about the program and the award criteria, click here.
Application Timeline:
- Oct. 5, 2026: Early application deadline (priority processing in order to list on college applications)
- March 15, 2027: General application deadline (receive priority processing compared to late applications)
- June 30, 2027: Late application deadline
Adult Skaters: Join The Next Ice Edge at Mount Vernon Rec Center!
Looking to deepen your skating skills and connect with the adult skating community in the DMV? The Next Ice Edge Adult Skating Class offers a unique on-ice experience focused on developing body control, line, lean, and skating efficiency.
The six-week series features one hour of instruction followed by 45 minutes of exclusive practice ice. Skaters may also contact instructors directly for 15-minute private lessons during the practice session.
Sundays, 9:00–10:45 a.m.
October 18–November 22
Ages 18+ | Prerequisite: Adult 6 or higher

The 4th Annual Stars and Stripes Synchro Invitational will be taking place October 24th to 25th at Prince William Ice Center.
Teenage and adult volunteers needed! Teen skaters and siblings needing service hours for various other activities–please consider helping out at our annual synchro competition. The jobs are easy and we will sign off in your hours!

SCNV is proud to partner with Gardens FSC to host our first Showcase competition in the DMV area on May 8, 2027. We are especially excited that this event will be part of the inaugural National Showcase Series.
This is a wonderful opportunity for SCNV to help bring more Showcase opportunities to skaters in our region while working together with another local club to grow and strengthen our skating community.
As with all successful competitions, we will need the support of our amazing volunteers! We will be looking for members and parents to help with competition planning as well as a variety of volunteer roles leading up to and during the event.
If you are interested in joining the planning committee or would like to volunteer, please let us know. No previous competition experience is necessary. There will be many different ways to help, and we would love to have more of our SCNV families involved. Please contact thuthuy@scnv.org for more information.
Interested in being on the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for Cardinal Classic 2027? We are looking for chairs, co-chairs and committee members. Our committees are:
Awards, Communications (Social Media and Technology), Fundraising, Hospitality, Officials, Practice Ice, Program, Registration, Setup, Volunteers and vendors.
LOC meetings are monthly via Zoom, starting in January. Melissa Mahle and Jenn Rafael are co-chairing the LOC.

SAVE THE DATES – 2027 Cardinal Classic, June 4-6, and 2027 Cardinal Classic TOI Festival, April 10-11. We are separating the theatre events out this year and will be holding Theatre on Ice events at Ion International Training Center in Leesburg. Stay tuned for more exciting information!
